Basseterre, St. Kitts (SKN AM) – As SKN AM carves its niche into the local media space rife with traditional powerhouses and popular creatives whose brands are established, popular and credible, it is gambling on an old formula that proved successful over a decade ago.
The Formula#
From 2014 to 2016, before SKN AM was established, its concept developer and host, Jamie Morris, produced and hosted a weekly radio show, Youth Culture, that highlighted the positive actions of youth in St. Kitts and Nevis. Morris says incorporating Youth Culture into SKN AM was the only natural thing to do.
“The show was quite successful when it aired on local radio for two years. I really couldn’t pass up the opportunity to revive it, breathe new life into it through video, and continue to tell the stories that I hadn’t been privileged to in over 10 years.”
The Guest List#
SKN AM debuted on YouTube on May 5, 2026, featuring T-Quan James, one of St. Kitts and Nevis’ Most Remarkable Teens and professional training consultant Delcia Bradley-King.
Other remarkable teens in T-Quan’s cohort of award recipients already featured include Mary Shelford, Tamia Lopez, Cam-Ronn Audain and Jaqori Isaac.
The Surprise#
Although the intention was to strip away the uniformity of the group to explore their individuality, Morris says the diversity of the group was surprising and enlightening.
“I really didn’t have any expectations going into the interviews, except to say that I wanted to get to the heart of who each person was and allow them to tell the narrative that would explain to viewers why they were selected to join the elite group of remarkable teens. Suffice it to say that I was awed by their sheer brilliance, diversity, critical thinking skills, and their individual passion to contribute to the development of St. Kitts and Nevis.”
